						Tabb Middle School Chain Reactions Members' TrainingPosted on: Friday, October 11, 2013The newest members of the Tabb Middle School (TMS) Chain Reactions Organization prepared for training during a recent meeting.  Chain Reactions consists of students in all grades at the school who seek to be a positive influence on the school climate.  "Chain Links" assist with the sixth grade orientation each summer, and members also welcome new students to the school while giving tours, meeting them for lunch, and introducing them to other students. 						Statewide Officers Elected for Virginia Girls StatePosted on: Friday, October 11, 2013Ms. Courtney Taylor of Tabb High School (THS) was elected Governor of the 67th Session of the Virginia Girls State at the week-long summer program held at Longwood University in Farmville. Virginia Girls State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary with the support of legislative staff from the General Assembly. Approximately 600 women who are rising high school seniors from across Virginia attended the session.  The group is divided into fourteen cities and two political parties, the Federalists and the Nationalists.  Party conventions were held to nominate candidates for statewide offices.  Candidates delivered platform speeches, responded during a question and answer session, and campaigned prior to voting. Read more   | 
				
					
						Yorktown Elementary School WatchDOG Pizza NightPosted on: Friday, October 11, 2013Yorktown Elementary School (YES) hosted its Annual WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) pizza night, where students had the opportunity to interact with dads and other male role models while enjoying a slice of pizza. The informational meeting offered a glimpse into the program's goals and dads were able to sign up to volunteer at the school. WatchDOGS has become an integral part of the YES community and provides an avenue to increase the number of parent volunteers at school. Read more   |

The students were very excited to have their work shown in a professional gallery.  The artwork of eight BHS students will also be featured at the 45th Annual An Occasion for the Arts Show in Colonial Williamsburg this weekend. 						"A Day Made Better" at SESPosted on: Friday, October 04, 2013Representatives from Office Max recently made a surprise visit to Seaford Elementary School (SES) teacher Beth Ann Wilson.  The visit, on October 1, was part of the company’s annual “A Day Made Better” program.  OfficeMax partners with AdoptAClassroom.org to award 1,000 teachers across the country with $1,000 worth of classroom supplies. 						Tabb Middle School Science Program Receives Grant from AFCEAPosted on: Friday, October 04, 2013Representatives from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) visited Tabb Middle School (TMS) on Thursday, September 19, 2013. They spoke with students about their experiences in the STEM classes at TMS and then presented the school with a check for $5,000. These funds will be used to purchase iPads for the science program, start a coding and robotics club, and fund additional projects for the Ready, SET, Go (engineering/problem solving) class.
