Students Produce Goods for Bazaar

This year, as third graders at Seaford Elementary School learn about economic concepts, they are also in the business of teaching second graders about the concepts they need to learn in second grade. In the Holiday Bazaar project, the students are operating as small businesses within each classroom to produce holiday decorative goods which they will sell to second grade consumers. Students have recorded a resources song for second graders, produced their goods and will be creating advertisements, both video and poster, focusing on descriptive and persuasive writing that will be posted online and around the school. SCA Appreciates York County Firefighters

Student Council members from YHS, YMS, SES and YES worked together to create gift bags for firefighters working on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The students decorated the bags, wrote thank you cards and stuffed the bags full of goodies. Read more



The Sock Project

Members of the Fine Arts, Practical Arts and Physical Education Departments at Tabb High combined their efforts to collects socks for those in need over the holidays. Each department focused on their area of expertise. Signs were created, contests publicized, socks were collected from classrooms and additional donations brought in from the community during the Band and Choral Concerts resulting in the grand "Sock Sculpture" now on display in the THS Commons. The sculpture will be broken down and socks paired and presented to veterans and elderly in need. Read more



G'Day Mates!

Mrs. Burger's 1st grade class from Coventry Elementary has been learning about animals from Down Under (Australia). During their study they have shared emails about life in the United States with someone who lives in Australia. They also shared a skype session with Mrs. Barnett's English Class at York High School. A student from YHS read the book Edward the Emu to Mrs. Burger's 1st graders. Read more



CES K-Kids Make Cookies for Langley Airmen's Cookie Drive

Elementary K-Kids recently made cookies for the Langley Airmen's Cookie Drive. The Cookie Drive provides cookies to over 900 airmen living in the dorms. Read more



Coventry Elementary Girls On The Run Food Bank Drive

Members of the Girls on The Run from Coventry Elementary School are collecting canned food for the Peninsula Food Bank. They have collected 400+ cans so far, with more on the way. Read more



Yorktown Middle School Citizens of the Month

Yorktown Middle School recognizes students each month during the school year who have shown exemplary behavior or outstanding character for that month. Tabb Elementary Visits Egypt

The second graders in Mrs. Marley Keefer's class at Tabb Elementary completed their Egypt unit by making and dressing as ancient Egyptians. The boys wore Pharaoh crowns symbolizing the colors for Upper and Lower Egypt, while the girls wore Cleopatra wigs adorned with the cobra. All the children wore cartouches they created on the computers - necklaces with Egyptian hieroglyphics spelling out their names. Jamestown Comes to Coventry

Fourth graders at Coventry Elementary School took an amazing trip back in time, right in their own classrooms. Students played colonial games, learned how to write with quill pens and even churned butter as part of their study of Jamestown. Many children and teachers even dressed in traditional clothing as part of this annual event. Read more



TABB DECA Brings Home the Gold

Tabb High School joined the rest of District 25 DECA at the District Leadership Conference on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Thomas Nelson Community College. DECA Members competed in competency based events relating curriculum and on-the-job training in case problem role play situations. Students had to solve the problem and present their solutions to the judge. Students placing in the top three overall in each event will travel to DECA State Leadership Conference in March 2013. Representing Tabb and District 25 DECA at the VA State Leadership Conference March 1-3 in Virginia Beach will be: Rachel Deyerle in Retail Merchandising, Logan Lancaster and Courtney Taylor in Hotel/Lodging Management, Sarah Burkett in Full Service Restaurant Management, and Hannah Dun in Business Finance.
