Posted on: Friday, February 08, 2013

Tabb High School's Club Earth has undertaken an industrious project to help with the rehabilitation of our local waterways by growing and planting underwater grasses. Participants in the program grow wild celery (Vallisneria americana), a type of underwater grass at the school for 10-12 weeks. After 10-12 weeks of grow-out, participants will gather to plant their grasses in select local rivers to bolster grass populations and help restore the Bay. Last year, Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) participants planted over 6,000 underwater grasses between the two restoration sites on the Potomac and James Rivers. Read more
