Tabb High School Band Camp opened this year under the direction of Band Director Adam Waller and Drum Majors Jonathan Lucas, Kirsten Lynch, and Jill Rinehart, with over 130 members, including 38 new members. The three week camp focused on marching and maneuvering fundamentals, musical technique and the musical rehearsal of the 2009 halftime show, "Music from the Incredibles". The first week, "rookie camp", provided new members the opportunity to learn the necessary marching band techniques. Week two brought the entire band together and expanded the rehearsals to include leadership workshops for section leaders and drum majors. Tabb's Marching Band Guard lead by Captains Lauren Keefer and Katie Deleo worked along side their marching band counterparts to add visual flare and sparkle to the show. This year’s Guard consists of 17 returning members and eight new members. The lineup for the 2009-2010 school year includes performances at all five home Tabb High School football games, three marching band competitions, the Virginia Band & Orchestra Directors Association State Marching Festival and the Yorktown Day Parade. |
