York County School Division Superintendent Victor Shandor, Ed.D., has announced principal and assistant principal changes for the 2025-26 school year. All appointments are effective July 1, 2025. Principal Appointments Anthony Friedman has been promoted from Tabb Middle School assistant principal to principal of Bethel Manor Elementary School. Mr. Friedman began his career with YCSD as an assistant principal at Tabb Elementary (2019-2022) before moving into his current role at Tabb Middle. He earned both his undergraduate and Master of Science-Special Education at Radford University and Certificate in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. Meagan Gavin has been promoted from her role as assistant principal at Yorktown Elementary School to YES principal. Mrs. Gavin served as an assistant principal at Dare Elementary (2019-2022) before moving into her current role at YES in 2022. She earned her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Christopher Newport University and Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University. Aaron McQuillan will be leaving Bruton High School to return to York High School as the school’s new principal. Amour Mickel, principal of Tabb Middle School since 2022, will be the new principal at Yorktown Middle School. Assistant Principal Appointments Tara Firth, GHS assistant principal, will be transferring to York High School as assistant principal. Courtney Smith-Copeland, YHS assistant principal, will be transferring to Grafton High School in the same role. Ranae Montecalvo, YMS assistant principal, will be transferring to Waller Mill Elementary School. Justin Workman, former TMS assessment & compliance coordinator and current assistant principal for WJCC has been hired as an assistant principal at Tabb Middle School. Principal Resignation Khrista Brownlee, principal of Waller Mill Elementary School, has announced her resignation from York County School Division to accept a position in another local school division. The search for administrators to fill these new vacancies will begin immediately. |
