Tutoring Funds Available
Virginia families can now apply for funds from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to help support the costs of tutoring and other similar services. K-12 Learning Acceleration grants of $1,500 are available to families of any public, private, parochial or home-school student in grades K-12 residing in Virginia, while qualifying families are eligible for $3,000.
Information about the grant process and opportunities to receive support in applying for the grants is available on the division website.
Elementary Attendance Zones
The York County School Division will review and evaluate elementary attendance zones in the coming months to address continued increases in elementary student enrollment. The division will engage the services of a consultant to analyze county data and prepare potential options for a committee of families and staff to review. Any resulting recommendations will be presented to the School Board for consideration in early 2024.
Virginia Student Vaccination Requirements
Do you have a child entering kindergarten, seventh or twelfth grade in August? If so, your student may need one or more of the following immunizations in accordance with Virginia Department of Health requirements, which became effective beginning with the 2021-22 school year:
For additional information, visit the Virginia Department of Health website.
Student Art Show
YCSD is hosting a Student Art Show at the Yorktown Freight Shed this month. The exhibit is free and open to the public on Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 23 from 2 to 7 p.m. Each school has been invited to submit five pieces of student artwork to be judged. Ribbons for first, second, and third place, as well as “Best in Show,” will be awarded.
The York County School Division offers local businesses and organizations the opportunity to share information with students and parents regarding educational/enrichment activities, events and opportunities, which are either available to YCSD students or support division programs. These flyers are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the York County School Division or the schools, but are made available as a community service for our families.
Community announcements can also be found on the division website and each school's website.
