Posted On: 11/7/2014

Bruton High School English teacher Blanqui Valledor was a featured speaker at the most recent School-University Research Network (SURN) Advisory Board meeting. Valledor spoke to SURN’s Visible Leading Program for English Language Arts which promotes learning experiences focused on student engagement in authentic writing, choice reading, and project based learning. Dr. Steven Staples, Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction, also shared remarks at the event.

SURN began in 1993 as a partnership of the School of Education at the College of William and Mary with Virginia K-12 school divisions to conduct relevant research and provide professional development in order to promote quality teaching and learning. Superintendents from 28 school divisions, including Dr. Victor Shandor, York County School Division Superintendent participate in SURN activities.
