Yorktown Middle School (YMS) took Read Across America global by raising over $2,000 in a month-long "Read to Feed" campaign conducted through English classes. The funds enabled YMS to purchase: 5 flocks of chicks, 5 flocks of ducks & geese, 5 honey bee packages, 3 llamas, a trio of rabbits, a set of tree seedlings, a goat and a heifer through Heifer International. In addition, the money raised will help send two young girls to school.
