2013-2014 Calendar Update

The York County School Division has made additional adjustments to the 2013-2014 school calendar due to the inclement weather closings on March 3 and 4, in addition to the earlier instructional time lost in January and February.

To date, YCSD has missed seven days of school. State law requires that school divisions make up the first five days missed, plus one day for each two days missed in excess of those five. The division does have the ability to make up that time through scheduling additional days or by adding additional instructional time to the existing calendar.

The early releases days scheduled for June 10, 11, and 12 will now be full attendance days for all elementary and middle schools and York River Academy. This adjustment provides the additional instructional time necessary to ensure these schools meet the instructional hours required by the state.

The four remaining high schools will have early release days for exams on June 10, 11, and 12. This also ensures those schools to meet the instructional hours required by the state.
