Collecting Data in AP Stats Just Got More FunPosted On: 5/24/2013 |
Tabb High School students in Mr. Chris Olivo's Advance Placement Statistics course undertook a unique project designed to add a little fun to the data collection process. Students were divided into small groups and assigned the task of creating 40 paper airplanes based on four different styles. Once the building task was completed, they adjourned to the commons to fly the planes. Students then measured and recorded each plan’s flight distance using lengths of yarn. When the groups returned to class, they recorded the data and used the information to construct confidence intervals to determine the most effective design. |
