YCSD After-School Activities Canceled - Sept. 22-24Posted on: Thursday, September 21, 2023The York County School Division is canceling all after-school activities for Friday, September 22, and all school-related events and activities are canceled for Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24. Parent/Student Driver Education Presentation - 2023-24Posted on: Tuesday, September 12, 2023Students enrolled in Driver Education in Virginia are required to attend a 90-minute presentation to obtain their Driver Education Certificate of Completion (DEC-1) card. This is due to a 2022 Virginia General Assembly code requiring all approved public, private, and commercial driver training schools to add a 90-minute parent/student component to the classroom driver education curriculum. YCSD Surpasses State Averages in State AssessmentsPosted on: Thursday, September 07, 2023The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) published annual state assessment results, accreditation ratings, chronic absenteeism data, On-Time Graduation rates, and other data from the 2022-23 school year on September 7. Overall, students in the York County School Division (YCSD) surpassed state averages in all five Standards of Learning (SOL) content areas by between 12 and 17 percentage points. Read more |

Bingo for BooksPosted on: Thursday, July 13, 2023Bingo, books, and bringing families and the community together is what the Bingo for Books elementary family engagement event was all about on July 12 at the Yorktown Library. With over 100 guests in attendance, YCSD students and families adorned their bingo cards with colorful dots and when an enthusiastic "BINGO!" was called, the winning student received a free book of choice. Library of Virginia Contest WinnerPosted on: Wednesday, June 21, 2023The Library of Virginia and Dominion Energy recognized winners of the Strong Men & Women in History student essay contest last week. Students across Virginia shared about the importance of recognizing and celebrating American history: highlighting hidden stories in their community which have been forgotten and how they can be remembered and shared for future generations. KidWind National ChampionsPosted on: Tuesday, June 20, 2023Tabb High School students recently returned from Boulder, Colorado celebrating their accomplishments at the National KidWind Challenge. The THS Windbreakers (Dante Keil, Claire Chang, Joshua Namkoong, Gavin Bowden, Matthew Andrews, and Shugo Mori) was named this year’s National Champions in the High School Age Division (grades 9-12). If the team and students’ names sound familiar – that’s because they won last year’s competition as well! Tabb’s “Gone with the Wind” Team (Kyle Ray, Alice Fang, Katelyn Wiltz and Jacoby Melton) won the Kidwind/Trane Data Analytic G.O.A.T. Award from Trane Industries. Read more |
