BHS Student Art on DisplayPosted on: Friday, October 04, 2013Several Bruton High School (BHS) art students recently displayed their artwork at the Newtown Art Gallery in Williamsburg. The students were very excited to have their work shown in a professional gallery. The artwork of eight BHS students will also be featured at the 45th Annual An Occasion for the Arts Show in Colonial Williamsburg this weekend. "A Day Made Better" at SESPosted on: Friday, October 04, 2013Representatives from Office Max recently made a surprise visit to Seaford Elementary School (SES) teacher Beth Ann Wilson. The visit, on October 1, was part of the company’s annual “A Day Made Better” program. OfficeMax partners with AdoptAClassroom.org to award 1,000 teachers across the country with $1,000 worth of classroom supplies. She is the first York County School Division teacher to be honored in the program’s seven year history. Read more |
Tabb Middle School Science Program Receives Grant from AFCEAPosted on: Friday, October 04, 2013Representatives from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) visited Tabb Middle School (TMS) on Thursday, September 19, 2013. They spoke with students about their experiences in the STEM classes at TMS and then presented the school with a check for $5,000. These funds will be used to purchase iPads for the science program, start a coding and robotics club, and fund additional projects for the Ready, SET, Go (engineering/problem solving) class. D.A.R.E Training ProgramPosted on: Friday, September 27, 2013The York County School Division (YCSD) partners with the York County Sheriff’s Office to provide the D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program to all fourth grade students. This year, several YCSD elementary schools also hosted a school visitation training session for D.A.R.E. officers from around the state. Read more |
We are Happy, Happy, Happy Students at SES!Posted on: Friday, September 27, 2013There was no ducking the “All About Me” writing assignment for fifth grade students at Seaford Elementary School (SES). Students also designed a paper body to reflect the characteristics they had described. To finish the self-portrait, students were given the opportunity to select their favorite Duck Dynasty beards using a picture of themselves and the Beard Booth Application on iPads. The final presentations were then displayed in the hallways. Students were very excited about the Duck Dynasty theme! Read more |
Author Lester Laminack Visits BMESPosted on: Friday, September 27, 2013Lester Laminack, author of children’s books and academic publications, spoke to students during assemblies at Bethel Manor Elementary School (BMES) and Waller Mill Elementary School (WMES) this week. GHS Commended StudentsPosted on: Friday, September 27, 2013Grafton High School (GHS) is proud to announce that three seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Program. A letter of Commendation was sent to each of these students. Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2014 competition for national Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition for the National Merit Scholarship Award. Dr. Stephanie Guy, Chief Academic Officer, spent the first day of the new school year visiting various schools.
