YCSD Schools Earn Virginia Purple Star DesignationPosted on: Monday, November 22, 2021Magruder Elementary School has joined the list of schools within the division recognized for their commitment to serving military children and their families. These schools receive a three-year designation as a Virginia Department of Education Purple Star School. Coventry Elementary School, Grafton Bethel Elementary School and Tabb Middle School were also honored for the second time, bringing the total number of YCSD schools earning this designation to 11. 2021-22 YCSD Calendar AdjustmentsPosted on: Wednesday, October 27, 2021This week, the School Board voted to authorize the superintendent to adjust the 2021-22 school calendar to incorporate additional planning time for teachers prior to winter break. The division will convert Thursday, November 11 (Veterans Day) from an early release day to a full staff workday/student holiday and will make Monday, December 6 an early release day for all students.
