Visiting Veterans on Veteran's DayPosted on: Friday, November 18, 2011Tabb High School's (THS) African-American History Club, sponsored by Mary Dawson and Gwen Banks, made Veteran's Day special for Veterans in the area. The group visited the Salvation Army's Veteran Affairs Service transitional housing facility on November 11 bearing gifts. Over 60 gift bags filled with much needed items were assembled and distributed to the residents. Club members also played bingo with the Vets and gave prizes to the winners. Read more |

Red Ribbon Week at GMSPosted on: Friday, November 11, 2011Grafton Middle School (GMS) students signed a large ribbon during Red Ribbon Week as they pledged to be drug-free. Student leaders read the announcements each morning urging students to remain drug-free and promoting Red Ribbon Week events. Also, a slogan contest was held and a winner was selected from each grade level. Grafton Clippers re-energized their commitment against drugs, "Not just for a week, but for life!" Read more |
MyPlate Encourages Students to Eat HealthyPosted on: Friday, November 11, 2011Grafton Middle School (GMS) students Aaron Daughtery, Josie Huck, Melek Izzard, Tre Pritchford and Kenny Williams are researching information for their MyPlate project. The students have been learning about eating healthy by following the Dietary Guidelines and MyPlate. Each student made a menu for a breakfast, lunch and dinner following the requirements of MyPlate. STEM is Blasting Off at Grafton MiddlePosted on: Friday, November 11, 2011Grafton Middle School (GMS) sixth graders get excited about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Education. Students Sydney Mann, Kiera Schwartz and Lyssa Garber patiently wait to take their colorful bottle rockets outside to the launch pad. This is a cumulative project that begins with the history and theory of Rocketry and Space and ends with students designing their own rockets. Prize Patrol at Tabb HighPosted on: Friday, November 11, 2011The York Foundation for Public Education, Inc.'s (YFPE) Prize Patrol awarded two Innovational Education Mini Grants to Tabb High School (THS) this week. Art Department teacher Leann Sasamoto received a grant for her "Inspired Art: Nooks and Crannies” as well as Career and Technical Education teachers Christina Majka and Lynn Pitchford for their "Presentation is Everything" project.
