Thank You Colonial KitchensPosted on: Friday, October 26, 2012Colonial Kitchens and Custom Cabinets generously donated beautiful new countertops to the Yorktown Elementary MST Magnet School library. The old countertops were bright neon yellow so the beige color contributes to the appearance of the newly renovated and freshly painted child friendly library. Mrs. Concannon’s kindergarten students made a hand print sign, thanking the men for their hard work and gracious donation. Read more |
YMS Pledges to be Drug-free and Stay in the Green ZonePosted on: Friday, October 26, 2012Yorktown Middle School (YMS) is celebrating Red Ribbon Week, October 22-26. Red Ribbon Week began in 1988 and is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. The US Drug Enforcement Agency estimates that 80 million people currently participate in this program. Yorktown Middle School students are proud to be part of this campaign and pledge to be drug free. Students pledge to honor YMS's tradition of a drug-free school and school body by signing a "Drug-Free" banner in the main hallway. Read more |

Ginger L. Clarke visits Magruder Elementary SchoolPosted on: Friday, October 19, 2012On Friday, October 12, 2012, Mrs. Ginger L. Clarke visited the second and third graders of Magruder Elementary School to discuss her popular books and love of writing. Mrs. Clarke's books have sold a combined total of more than two million copies worldwide. Her books Freak Out! and Gross Out! were on Publisher's Weekly's 2006 and 2007 lists of top hundred best-selling children's books. The students enjoyed listening to Mrs. Clarke's presentation and how her love for writing began in the third grade. Hopefully the students of Magruder Elementary School will be inspired to pursue their love of writing as well! Read more |
Seaford Staff Promotes Breast Cancer AwarenessPosted on: Friday, October 19, 2012October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Most of us in one way or another have been touched personally by this disease. Seaford Elementary gave staff, students, and their families an opportunity to honor those they know who have been affected by purchasing a pink ribbon to display in the hall. Seaford staff members also purchased shirts to promote awareness. Read more |
DECA Officers Attend District 25 Officer Training ConferencePosted on: Friday, October 19, 2012The newly elected Executive Board of the Tabb High School DECA Chapter attended the District 25 DECA Officer Training Conference on Tuesday October 16th at the Hampton Administrative Offices. Each officer was installed by the District President Lindsay Tippet during the opening session.
