NASA Visits GBES Kindergarten

Director of Research, NASA Langley Research Center and Grafton Bethel parent Jill Marlowe visited Cathy Anderson's kindergarten class at Grafton Bethel. "National Engineers Week" is held each February. As part of this national effort, NASA asks its employees to serve for a "Day of Education" by visiting K-12 kids. Read more



GBES Fifth Graders Skype

After reading The Cay, fifth graders at Grafton Bethel (GBES) skyped with Jeremy Wheeler, WAVY-TV10's weatherman. He provided information on hurricanes related to their reading of The Cay. Grafton Middle School Students Exploring the Revolutionary War Through Technology

Going Green at Grafton Bethel Elementary

Students in Mrs. Kimes’s class at Grafton Bethel Elementary School researched areas of the school that needed a recycling bin. They placed their hand-decorated "green" recycling box in the office and collected recycled items. A student suggested they graph the items to determine the most used location. Then they moved the box to the cafeteria, collected items and graphed. Their final location was the Teacher's Lounge which became the final resting place for the recycling box as that location (according to their graphs) produced the most amount of recycled items. Volunteer Readers at Seaford Elementary

Candi Skinner, Director of Elementary Instruction, volunteered to read at Seaford Elementary during Read Across America Month. She read The Giving Tree to Mrs. Mohrhusen's second grade class. The school welcomes volunteers from the community to come and read. Read more
